Thomas Robert Hughes, 54, of Bowling Green, passed away at 9:03 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at SSM-Saint Louis University Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday September 4, 2024, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood with Father Charles Tichacek officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Myers Funeral Home in Middletown.

Thomas was born August 30, 1969, in Quincy, Ill. He was the son of James and Mary (Mudd) Hughes.

Thomas was known for his unwavering dedication and love for his family. He was known for his enjoyment of feeding his loved ones with his BBQ, which was a testament to his generous spirit. He was a dedicated carpenter and enthusiastic farmer. Throughout his life, Thomas took pride in his work and his love for the land. He found joy in owning and working with cattle and was often seen immersed in farming activities. He was a passionate St. Louis Cardinals fan. He could often be found cheering on the team. His love for baseball was only rivaled by his love for playing pool with family and friends. Thomas had a rare gift for making everyone feel like a friend. He never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a hand to friends in need. Thomas was a member of the St. Clement Catholic Church in St. Clement and also attended the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg.

Survivors include one son, Jack Hughes (fiancée Lilly) of Bowling Green and Jack’s mother Davina Busken; his companion, Missy Pitzer; sister, Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Carline (Jimmy) of Martinsburg; niece, Katie Carline; and nephew, Avery Carline.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
