Marvin Edward Jones, Sr., 87, of New Haven, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
Marvin was born on March 1, 1937 in Mexico (Audrain County) to Richard and Opal Jones.
He loved to work outdoors and worked as a carpenter most of his life. He loved to garden and do yard work. He served in the United States Navy.
He will be greatly missed by his family.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Wanda Jones; son, Marvin Jr.; two daughters, Jennifer and Kelley; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeremiah; a granddaughter; and six brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on May 16 at Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, with Pastor Robert Gentry officiating the services. Interment will follow in the Montgomery City Cemetery. Casketbearers include Trey Jones, Trenton Jones, Mike Rich, Brandon Rich, William Gessman and Clifton McReaken. Honorary casketbearers are Mark Shramek, Wayne Shramek and Leon Shramek.
A visitation is scheduled for 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on May 15 at Schlanker Funeral Home.
