Edward Harry Carline, 86, of Montgomery City, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 8, 2024.

Ed was born on July 26, 1937, at his family farm in Audrain County, the son of John R. Carline and Dora (Wright) Carline. He graduated from Community R-VI High School in 1956. Shortly after, he married Norma Jean Carline. Together they had one son, Jimmy Dale. They were married for 27 years before Norma Jean’s passing in 1985. He then married Jeanette Barnes Carline and they were married for 25 years before Jeanette’s passing in 2011. Through this union began his first role as a step-father, which continued into his marriage in 2018 to Faye Hinton Carline. Ed had precious relationships with his eight children and step-children and loved them all the same. He was a great father.

Over the years he worked at Heim Equipment Company in Laddonia, Fipps in Wellsville, Binkley as a metal worker for 25-plus years. He spent a few years working at the Wellsville-Middletown School District before retiring at the age of 62. He farmed and raised cattle his whole life. He also always had goats and dogs, both of which he adored greatly.

He attended the Grace Lutheran Church in Wellsville for many years.

Ed was the type of man that would tell you the way it was but had the biggest heart. You just had to pick away to find it sometimes. He has touched the lives of many people. Ed had a great sense of humor. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed raccoon hunting and had certificates for his accomplishments in it.

Mr. Carline was very active in the Montgomery County Old Threshers Association. He was president for a few years and then went on to be vice-president for many more. He was on several antique tractor boards where he was able to divulge himself in his passion.

Ed was a truly great man with many interests to share with the world. He had 86 full years with us and will continue to be loved and missed by so many.

Mr. Carline is survived by his wife, Faye Hinton Carline of the home; his children, Linda Smith of Irvington, Ill., Lisa (Kevin) Knipfel of Jonesburg, Jimmy Dale (Liz) Carline of Martinsburg, Karen (Alan) Leulf of Montgomery City, Angela Vaughn of St. Charles, Aaron (Janet) Hinton of Travis Air Force Base, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren with one on the way; niece, Debbie Marshall; nephew, Larry (Debbie) Carline; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two children, Pamela Poindexter and Jamie Hinton; his parents, John R. and Dora Carline; his brother, John Carline; his sister, Florence Marshall; and two wives, Norma Jean Carline and Jeanette Barnes Carline.
