Oma Niswonger

Oma Faye Niswonger, age 95, of Jonesburg, passed away on November 11, 2023, in New Florence. She was born on March 2, 1928 to John and Trixie Laughlin (nee Weaver) in Supply, Ark. Oma was a beloved member of her community and was known for her kind and nurturing nature. Her passion for children extended beyond her own family.

Oma worked as a cook at Jonesburg Elementary School, where she was delighted in watching the children grow. Her warm and welcoming presence made her a safe haven for all who crossed her path. Oma had a deep love for gardening, canning, and cooking. These hobbies brought her joy and allowed her to share her culinary creations with her loved ones. Her delicious meals and preserved goodies will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of tasting them.

Oma will be deeply missed by her surviving children, Donald Niswonger, Ronald Niswonger, Stanley Niswonger, Janet Lockhart (Harold) and Lucinda DuCoulombier. Oma leaves behind a legacy of love and nurturing, which will continue through her grandchildren, Linda Gambrell, Brandi Niswonger, Melissa Kuhlo (Matt), Ronni Savio (John), Amy Tracy, Jason Hoelscher (Sarah), Keith Niswonger, Angela Angel, Jennifer Niswonger, Megan Boone (Richard), Samantha Niswonger, Miranda Niswonger, Jessica Patton, Jaqueline Mischlispy (Joseph) and Maizie Brown. She is also survived by 39 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren and siblings, Mack Laughlin, Peggy Grunz and Edwina Turner.

Oma was preceded in death by her parents, John and Trixie Laughlin; her siblings, Patsey Hackler, Joffrey Laughlin, Aleda Carol, Wanda Smith, Mary Beamer, Marquette Laughlin and Lafayette Laughlin; daughter, Pamela Niswonger; daughter in-law, Robin Niswonger;  grandchildren, Toby Hindman and Brian Niswonger. Oma Faye Niswonger's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her love, kindness and nurturing nature will forever be cherished by her family, friends and community.

The Pitman Funeral Home in Jonesburg is assisting the family with the arrangements for Oma's passing. Oma Faye Niswonger's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her love, kindness, and nurturing nature will forever be cherished by her family, friends and community.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m.-noon on Nov. 18 at Pitman Funeral Home and the funeral services will start at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Jonesburg City Cemetery.
